This game may be a creator of a genre called “annoyers”. You are offered to pass some tricky quests playing for a faceless white matter without a backbone. It always loses balance and falls to make your mission feel like hell. Don’t take it serious and download Human Fall Flat to have some bursting fun.
Graphics — 4/5
Human Fall Flat looks quite modern. You can see it by colors, shades and the quality of sprites. On the other hand, it looks very plain. There surroundings are mostly white and grey, objects and majorly red, black, brown or green. However, this title doesn’t have to look serious. Don’t think, that such plain graphics may look childish or low quality. They are completely relevant and complement hilarious physical models.
Gameplay — 4/5
This game offers you to complete some quests, which look incredibly stupid and fun at the same time. Dangers wait for your jelly-belly character behind every corner, and you have to be very accurate to avoid sudden death. In fact, there is nothing wrong with the surroundings of the controls. The character itself is a big white jelly problem wearing a cap. This faceless guy seems to be always drunk as a lord and stupid at the same time, but your mission is to tame him and finally make him complete the quest. Developers could call their creation “The Spineless Adventure” instead. It would be a more descriptive title.
To be fair, quests in HFF are very thoughtfully made and various. If your nerves are strong enough, you will get the idea and probably enjoy it. Each quest may contain a frustrating joke, that may through you back to the start of a level or reveal a key for a quick run.
Controls — 3.5/5
As was mentioned above, the main character is actually a piece of muscleless dough, that is not able to walk straight and stand still for a single second. To lead this creature forward, you have to punish keyboard amd mouse and yourself. The main rule to play this is “Don’t take it serious”. It’s impossible to stay calm or relaxed, but you will be able to laugh out loud, when you meet new trouble behind the nearest corner.
Replay Value — 3.5/5
This game is certainly well-designed and fun, and inventive, and memorable, but very doubtfully highly replayable due to the difficulty of quests and levels. The joy from completing each following level is enormous. You will feel yourself an Olympic champion, when you finally cross the finish line of the last level. Due to these facts, Human Fall Flat is highly replayable if you enjoy hardcore and challenging games. In other cases, it’s fun enough for a single walkthrough.
Conclusion
Hopefully, the trend for annoying puzzles with Octodad-like controls will never die. All such games can make you angry, but, in fact, they just want to check your sense of humour. If you can make yourself laugh from your own mistakes and misfortunes, you would probably enjoy this subtle philosophic message. It’s very important to understand, that developers made this game to laugh at you together with you. Nothing offensive, just humour.
