Professional Review

Mordhau is a fighting game in which you can play as a knight who takes part in a gory and visceral medieval combat. If you want to enter a hectic battlefield of up to 64 players and experience massive brutal fighting, download Mordhau and enjoy an exciting feel of blood and satisfaction.

Graphics 5/5

The animations are smooth and the general picture is impressive. The visuals are enhanced by crunchy sounds as well as gory physics. Each map has its own distinct look and you get an amazingly realistic picture, no matter if you’re on the muddy battlefield or you see how bloody body bits fly and fall on the snow.

Gameplay 5/5

Mordhau is a team-based battle and you’re required to capture control points on various large maps. You may choose to grab Zweihander build and head to the front lines to crash some skulls or you can become an archer to fire enemies who try to conquer the castle walls. Another option is that you can pick up an unarmored character that is fast enough to move robustly around enemy flanks.

The character creator is strong in terms of your stats and how your armor looks like. It’s very convenient because you start with just a blank slate and then allocate points of weapons, different perks, and armor pieces. There are quite a lot of equipment options and you can be anything from a tanky knight with a full set of ammunition or lightly-armored fast berserker. As you progress, new mechanical options and visuals get unlocked, so you always have something interesting to look forward to.

We must say in our Mordhau review that we faced problems with online stability and matchmaking. At some point, we had to wait for quite a while when trying to join the match but we guess it was a temporary glitch, which, hopefully, devs will sort out if there was a problem indeed.

Controls 4/5

You must check out controls before you start playing since in the world of this game, too much depends on the speed. If you reacted slower than your opponent, that’s it, you’re done. If you don’t want to die quickly (and that’s extremely easy if you’re a new player), you will need some time to master the melee system.

Replay Value 4/5

Mordhau gives an opportunity to play like a real bastard so after you get to feel the taste of victory over and over again, you will definitely want to come back for more. Obviously, if you prefer to stay away from any sort of violence, after the first test session you will simply say “never again”. Yet, if you’re a gore lover, be aware that the game can become truly addictive.

The Bottom Line

Overall, this game is a good version of Chivalry and lives up to expectations of many hack and slack game fans. It does have room to evolve (and there are things that should be improved) but at the moment, it is definitely worth the price.

Mordhau is a decent fighting game, which will give you a great array of emotions ranging from despair to the sweet taste of victory. Are you ready for a fight? Download Mordhau right now and see yourself how far you can get in this cool medieval hack and slack game.
