Hatred is an ode to senseless ultra-violence by Destructive Creations. It gained popularity due to the fierce long-haired Antagonist who desires to kill every human being indiscriminate. In this 3D-isometric twin-stick arcade shooter game you have to kill as many innocents as possible. You can download Hatred exclusively for Windows PC only on Steam game store.
Graphics – 4.5/5
As for a shooter with an isometric camera, the Hatred game looks incredibly good and stylish. The whole terrain of the town is black and white with accents on fire, blood, and police flashers. This game also has very detailed destruction physics due to the advanced Unreal Engine 4 technology. Hatred system requirements are not very high, so it will run well on medium 4-5-year-old PCs.
Gameplay – 4/5
Giving Hatred gameplay a 5 would be similar to saying that Postal is an outstanding achievement of the video game industry. However, both games deserve a solid 4 because they are extremely fun.
During the whole game of Hatred, you have to play as a super-violent angry doom-metal fan with a gun who decided that all people in the world deserve death. You have to help this guy to mend “justice” and kill citizens and policemen. For this purpose, you can use pistols, machine guns, and grenades. Though the whole game is isometric, almost every finish off has a picturesque cut scene. The Antagonist loves to finish off people dramatically and always says something cruel and fanatic.
Levels in Hatred latest version are incredibly detailed. Nearly all buildings are destroyable, and all objects scatter around when you hit them with a bullet, a ricochet, or an explosion. Due to this, every shootout looks like a carnival. Moreover, there are seas of blood after every good shot. This illumination of black, grey, white, orange and bloody-red is gorgeous.
Controls – 5/5
As in any twin-stick shooter, in Hatred, you have to control 2 axes on a flatness. With one hand you have to move the character using WASD or a gamepad stick. With the second hand, you have to choose a direction and shoot using a mouse or the right stick of your gamepad. This control scheme is similar to the classic Alien Shooter and the new Hotline Miami. The game supports Xbox One controllers and others via corresponding emulators.
Replay Value – 5/5
Hopefully, this Hatred review doesn’t seem over-enthusiastic, but it’s impossible not to say that this game is highly immersive. Guys from the Polish Destructive Creations know their business. That’s why every level feels like a freshly grilled meatloaf. No matter which level you choose, it is similarly violent, bright and catchy.
The Bottom Line
From the game designer’s point of view, Hatred is a well-balanced isometric arcade shooter with qualitative implementations of weapons and explosives. It provides excellent graphics and impressive physics. From the other point of view, it’s a purposeless bloody massacre caused by a psycho-killer recluse. And it’s very very fun to play.
Download Hatred if you lack ultraviolent games on your PC. It’s a great time killer that helps to blow the steam off.
Pros : Very stylish noir graphics and realistic physics;
A wide range of weapons and explosives;
