Graphics 5/5

Graphics matter a lot in simulation games, and they do contribute a lot to the overall appeal of Cooking Simulator. You can’t help but be delighted with how crisp and colorful all your ingredients, tools, and utensils look. The animations are very smooth and based on real-life physics, making the whole virtual experience pretty realistic.

Gameplay 4/5

As you start out, you’ll only have a limited number of kitchen utensils and ingredients available to you. Don’t let this fool you – there are over 60 recipes available in the game which are unlocked as you progress. You can also unlock new tools, ingredients, and skills, so you can be sure that Cooking Simulator can keep you entertained for hours.

You can play Career mode if you want to be challenged and observe your in-game progress, but the laid-back Sandbox mode is a pretty cool addition for players who just want to chill and explore their shiny pro chef kitchen. It’s a good idea to spend some time exploring your surroundings in the beginning of your chef career because that way you’ll be more or less familiar with your cooking gear and ingredients when the time comes to use them in Career mode.

Controls 5/5

Cooking is a complicated process which involves a lot of different actions. Fortunately, this didn’t prevent Cooking Simulator developers from coming up with a great control scheme that allows you to easily accomplish pretty much any in-game action. Of course, all the pointing and clicking is not the same as using real-life kitchen utensils, but there’s a limit to how realistic you can get with the mouse and keyboard duo for controllers.

Replay Value 3/5

We’d really love to keep coming back to Cooking Simulator since the game is great, but we need an additional incentive to do so. Even just adding new content would work, but for the sake of longevity, we’d really like to see a multiplayer mode in Cooking Simulator. There’s only so much fun you can have with a new ingredient or recipe, but simulated kitchen battles with friends could be a major replayability booster for this game.

The Bottom Line

This Cooking Simulator game currently offers a solid gameplay experience with some room for improvement. Granted, it would be great to see Cooking Simulator support VR for a truly immersive experience, but that is no easy endeavor. Expecting a multiplayer mode added to the game is more reasonable, but Cooking Simulator offers a lot of bang for your bung even as it is. Don’t hesitate to give this great game a try if you want to experience the workday of a professional chef firsthand!

Conclusion

Download Cooking Simulator from Steam to unleash your inner chef!
