Octodad: Dadliest Catch is the author's remake of the original student indie game of 2010 which was simply called Octodad. For the past years after the successful Kickstarter campaign, the developers from Young Horses have worked on the story, finalized the technology and prepared a new set of levels. But the only thing left from the initial version which is the torment of the human octopus in the human world.
The game is fun and a bit silly. But there’s no better match for a perfect time-killing. You can download Octodad: Dadliest Catch game just click the button "Get Game".
Graphics — 4.5/5
Octodad: Dadliest Catch has an appealing visual performance. Though the graphics are simple, all the characters and surroundings are well-developed for getting the sense of fun and pleasure from the visuals.
Octodad: Dadliest Catch graphics are significantly more polished and perfected compared to the initial game version. Still, the visual performance can be called cute and eye-friendly. It is very similar to the 3D cartoon's style.
The game also performs an outstanding level of the physics as it is the main feature of Octodad. Interacting with objects and the detailing is surprisingly good for such a light-hearted game.
Gameplay — 5/5
At the heart of the game, you will find the idea of controlling the octopus, who pretends to be a human. The idea is insane and thus attractive and unusual.
You should note that controlling the eight insubordinate legs is not the Sunday picnic. You will need to tie your legs into a knot not to arouse the suspicion of others. But the doubt will appear anyway.
Your mission isn't easy. You are an invertebrate creature who poses as a loving husband and father of a human origin.
Each time Octodad tries to manage any human action from brewing a coffee to making some purchases in the shop, he faces the real difficulties as his body wasn’t meant for behaving this way.
So all of the missions which you are going to come up against in the game are connected with managing everyday tasks funnily and ridiculously only Octodad can perform.
Moreover, you can play the game in a multiplayer mode with up to four people simultaneously. Each of your mates will control a separate limb of the cunning octopus, so you all are going to have a lot of fun trying to make all his movements synchronized.
Controls — 4.5/5
As the main focus of the game is connected with the funniest of the existing game physics, the controls matter a lot. It is really hard to manipulate the jelly-like Octodad.
The complexity of managing the everyday, seemingly simplest tasks is the main feature of Octodad: Dadliest Catch. After all, every careless movement of the stick, every careless pressing of the trigger threatens another ridiculous situation and massive destruction.
So you need to get used to the controls and the unpredictableness of Octodad’s moves. Anyway, even after hours of playing it won’t be easy to move like a human. It's impossible to control the beast with anything but a gamepad, so prepare your Octodad for a hardcore training.
Replay Value — 4.5/5
Octodad: Dadliest Catch is strange enough, but still magnetic. With its ridiculous missions and great physics, it becomes one of the titles which you’d like to return from time to time.
The real fans of the game speak about the urge to repeat this adventure as a funny ocean beast every once in a while. The main regret concerning the replay value is that the gameplay is pretty short giving you only 6-7 hours of odd walking.
The developers of Octodad: Dadliest Catch took an amusing idea and put it to the scale of an animated film. Here you will find so much ridiculousness and fun, with plenty of custom modifications and a bunch of entertaining features that this game won’t leave you indifferent.
All in all, Octodad: Dadliest Catch is funny, entertaining, and replayable. Make it even more enjoyable with the co-op mode.
Download Octodad: Dadliest Catch and performs the right amount of insanity that you can handle in the game.
Pros : Creative and full of fun plot
The strangest character you could imagine for the game
Engaging co-op mode
Cons : Graphics are a bit outdated
Replay Value 4.5
