Graphics 5/5

You don’t necessarily have to vibe with the overall anime culture to fully appreciate KurtzPel graphics. The art style is visually pleasant and creates a certain vibrant atmosphere that encourages you to interact with the world of KurtzPel and keep coming back for more. There’s also a lot of room for customization, so you can be sure that your character is not going to look like everybody else in the lobby.

Gameplay 4/5

KurtzPel has a great PvE mode that is very helpful for improving your combat skills. However, it is more than just a training environment you quickly pass before engaging in PvP battles. With the smooth flow of new bosses, missions, and abilities, you can spend hours playing the PvE mode without getting bored. Unfortunately, the game really seems to shift the players’ focus towards the PvP mode, so the PvE one might end up being unnoticed.

Of course, the PvP battles are just as fun as those you can have with NPCs in PvE, but there’s a catch to them. The matching system is far from perfect, resulting in unbalanced matches that spoil the playing experience for everyone involved. Since KurtzPel is currently in Early Access, we really hope that the matching is going to work much better by the time the game is officially released.

Controls 4/5

The controls in KurtzPel feel natural even if you’re new to fighting games. There’s virtually no learning curve, so you can just grab your preferred controller and jump into close combat action. However, the aiming could really use some improvement because the way it currently is makes your attacks go unnoticed a little too often.

Replay Value 4/5

Given the minor shortcomings the game currently displays, you may not instantly want to keep playing it over and over again. Despite that, KurtzPel does have a lot of potential, and with some improvements, it could become one of your favorite titles for a long time. The PvE mode alone is going to take a long time to complete and you’ll probably want to revisit it from time to time to defeat all the bosses. If the PvP mode gets the improvements it needs, it will easily provide the incentive to keep playing KurtzPel over a prolonged period of time.

The Bottom Line

As most games in Early Access, KurtzPel is not perfect. However, the beautiful environment, creatively designed bosses, and extremely advanced character creator tool are a solid foundation upon which the developers can build a great game. You should definitely give KurtzPel a try if you’re a fan of fighting games, anime, or both!

Conclusion

Download KurtzPel from Steam today to fall in love with its vibrant world and charismatic characters!
